Privacy Policy

Gurbani Insight is a Sikh devotional reading and listening app developed by We Developers LLC. This policy explains what information the app does and does not collect, and how we handle it. In short: we collect almost nothing, and we never sell or share your data.

Information We Do Not Collect

Gurbani Insight does not collect any of the following:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifiers.
• Your location.
• Your contacts, photos, or files.
• Your browsing history or behavior across other apps and websites.
• Device advertising identifiers (IDFA) or analytics data for tracking.

The app has no sign-in, no user accounts, and no advertising.

Information Stored Locally On Your Device

The following information is stored only on your device, in the app's local storage or the iOS Keychain, and is never transmitted to us:

• Your language and text-size preferences.
• Your bookmarked Banis and reading position.
• Your count of free and purchased AI explanations.
• Your theme and display settings.

Uninstalling the app clears this data, except for the free-explanation counter stored in the iOS Keychain, which persists across reinstalls to prevent abuse of the free tier.

In-App Purchases

Gurbani Insight offers an optional one-time purchase of additional AI explanations. When you complete a purchase:

• Apple handles the payment. We never see your credit card, Apple ID, or billing address.
• The app sends the purchase transaction ID and product ID to our verification server (a Firebase Cloud Function) to confirm the purchase is legitimate. This request contains no personal information — only the opaque transaction ID issued by Apple and the product identifier.
• The transaction ID is stored in our Firestore database for the sole purpose of preventing double-granting credits on the same purchase. It is not linked to any personal data and cannot be used to identify you.

Calendar and Reminders

If you choose to add Gurpurab dates to your calendar or set Nitnem reminders, the app writes those events directly to your device's Calendar and Reminders apps using standard iOS permissions. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to us.

Background Audio

The app uses the background audio capability so that kirtan playback continues when your screen is locked or when you switch to another app. No audio data is collected or transmitted.

Third-Party Content Sources

Gurbani text, translations, and audio streams are fetched from publicly available APIs maintained by the Sikh community, including GurbaniNow, SGPC, and Gurmat Veechar. When the app fetches content from these sources, standard web requests include your device's IP address, which those services may log under their own privacy policies. We do not operate or control these services.

Children's Privacy

Gurbani Insight is rated 4+ and is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect any information from children or adults. Since the app collects no personal information from anyone, it complies with COPPA and similar children's privacy regulations by default.

Data Retention and Deletion

Because we do not collect any personal information, there is nothing personal for us to retain or delete. The only data we store server-side is a list of anonymous IAP transaction IDs used for purchase verification, which has no connection to your identity.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy in the future, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on the App Store.
